Judy Gagner is the Showcase Artist for February

        Judy Gagner

Judy was raised in a small town in rural Arkansas. As a child she loved to draw and sketch and would study art from her school library. It was after she had her family that she decided to pick up a paintbrush and see what she could do. What started out as a hobby soon became a passion! To her amazement Judy found her creative abilities God gave her coming through on canvas with acrylics. Judy travels in the United States and continues to take in this wonderful country as inspiration for her work. She feels blessed with God's beauty around her and often uses her photographs to create her work.

Meet Shirley Armstrong January's Showcase Artist

Shryl Armstrong

I’ve been painting for about  20 years, and  am mainly self-taught  learning  to paint  by studying  and reading  a great many books on the art of painting, watching  some fine  artists on TV,  and also from meeting and interacting online  with other artists  from around the world.  I paint with Acrylics, Oils and Watercolors.

I’ve learned so much by participating in art projects on various online forums  making me paint subjects which heretofore had been  totally out  of my comfort zone.  In addition,  I’ve painted  dozens of mini paintings and  small studies which have helped me immeasurably when I paint on larger supports.

Painting  has added so much  happiness, satisfaction, and awareness into my life and is a wonderful  endeavor  in my senior years.   I am a firm believer in, the more you paint the more you’ll improve but  am the first to admit that I have a very long way to  go when it comes to learning more  and painting better  and  that is why I just enjoy the art of painting and do it for fun and pleasure with no thoughts of ever  selling my work.

I concur with Van Gogh when he said,  “the only time I feel alive is when I paint”!

I hope you stop by and meet Jessie Robb

and view her art seen in the Artist Showcase. She has a wonderful painting created using only fabric. I love the delicate use of these fabrics in creating her yellow birds with a wonderful backdrop of blues.

I am happy to announce Crystal Daniel as October's artist in the showcase. I admire her self portrait, which is something I have only tried once and made a great mess of it.  I know she will go a long way with her artistic abilities..

Take a minute and check out the artwork of Crystal Daniel, it will be a delight for all.

Classes start again next week at the Senior Center. We will be getting started painting dew drops on a flower. I know some will find it a challenge and I have great expectations on their success. I am looking forward to this season of gearing up for the holidays.

I am working on painting on a hugh saw. Yes I said saw, It is something I am doing for a neighbor. This is proving to be challenge for me.

A new painting Completed..

Posted by anonymous at 04:22 PM on September 28, 2009 Comments comments (2)

Today I posted a new painting, something I think I am calling completed..

I know as an artist it is sometimes hard to know when to stop. I can still see things I could still do. I called it done because I know me, if I keep on I will end up with a disaster. I have been known to ruin many a painting by picking at it.  I am not going to confess how many paintings I have destroyed. (smile)

How many times I have regretted touching a painting that I actually liked.  I have taken that last stroke to find I need to add more strokes to finally losing the painting alltogether. This is a lesson learned. Once you find a comfortable place and acceptable for you  LEAVE IT ALONE!

Sign it and let it go....
