Jlamons Paintings

Tomorrow I pick up some of my art from the exhibit in Searcy. Overall it went very well. I have a commission and 2 possible sells. All in all there was a good response to this years exhibit. I am so glad Judy made me get busy and participate.

Have you ever felt like just quiting and then something makes you move forward. I don't see a quiting place right now in my life. I am busy with another Senior class and it is proving to be a challenge. Today I took several pictures I had taken and posted them on a board and went over the composition rules. I told them to pick out three of the pictures and create a painting using the rules of composition.  Some followed instructions perfectly but some choose to copy one picture or invent their own.  I was told by one Senior that this was the hardest for them to do. I want to challenge them to create their own , not just copy something I have painted. I want them to learn, and yet have fun doing it!. 

Next week we will do something new Abstract!. Some say they have never tried abstract, well this will give them something to push them in another direction. Me too, since I paint primarily realism.  But I think it will be fun......
